Spunky Spike (#boroughbred25267) is outta the Brooklyn ACC thanks to a grant from #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund and is safe with Connect A Pet New England. THE SWEETEST OF PUPS, HE WAS FAILED NOT ONCE BY HIS HUMANS BUT TWICE!!! He was surrendered to the shelter in April by his owner and subsequently reclaimed. A month later, he was found wandering as a stray and and brought into the Brooklyn Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). ??How so very traumatic and confusing for this adorable 3-year old, described as dog and kid friendly by his owner?!!! Shelter staff noted that SINCE SPIKE RETURNED TO THE SHELTER HE WAS EXTREMELY FEARFUL IN THE KENNEL, GROWLING AT HUMANS. OUTSIDE THE KENNEL HE REVERTED TO HIS PLAYFUL, HUMAN-SOCIAL SELF. As per ACC notes “At this time we feel that Spike is not acclimating and should no longer live in a kennel environment as it is detrimental to his well-being.”
We could not leave Spike to deteriorate at the shelter and reached out to our good friends at Connect A Pet New England to help Spike. They are a small but MIGHTY non-profit 501c3 located in NH, dedicated to finding the right home for the dogs under their care. THERE IS NO “I” IN RESCUE!!! We can achieve so much by working together. For us #EveryDogMatters and our goal is to help animal welfare and rescue groups where 100% OF DONATIONS GO TO ANIMALS IN NEED!!
