Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants

Keeping Pets out of Shelters

Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants is our give-back to the community FUNDING initiative. The focus of our Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants is to reduce euthanasia rates, stop animal abuse and cruelty and keep pets out of shelters by helping approved families, and rescue groups pay for veterinary bills and rehabilitation expenses.  We believe that every animal deserves the opportunity to live a long, loved and happy life.

Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants are supported by the generosity of our individual and corporate donors and the Sethi-Gauba family. The grants honors the memory of JOEY and OREO, the Sethi-Gauba family’s beloved rescue dogs. JOEY was adopted as an older rescue from the shelter when his original owner went into rehab. He was a loyal companion of 9 years, who gave his family unconditional love, and taught them that life is an adventure well-lived.  A free spirit, he continues to inspire them today. OREO became homeless, when his original family lost their home. From a much loved pet, he became no one’s dog till her found his forever home with the Sethi-Gauba family. A pure-bred cocker spaniel, Oreo’s various ailments embodied all that is wrong with puppy mills and indiscriminate breeding. But this sweetest boy, never let that come in his way of loving and showering kisses on all humans that came his way.

Joey & Oreo HEAL (JOH) grants are disbursed for dogs in the following three situations. For more information, please email us at JOHGrants@healfoundationusa.org

Families with Pets in Need: If your dog is in need of medical treatment and you are contemplating placing her or him in a shelter due to the illness and high veterinary costs, we can help pay your pet’s bills, so they can live their remaining years with you at home.

♥ Senior Dogs in Shelters: If you know of a senior dog at a shelter within the NY Metropolitan / Tri-State Area, please reach out to us. We place special emphasis on aiding senior dogs at shelters as they are the group most overlooked for adoption and are at risk for euthanasia. We will help approved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt animal rescue groups pull the dog, pay for vet bills and transport them to a safe and loving foster or forever home.

♥ Bonded Dogs in Shelters: If you know of a bonded set of dogs at a shelter within the NY Metropolitan / Tri-State Area, please reach out to us. Our goal is to help bonded dogs abandoned at shelters, as they have a harder time getting adopted out together. We will help approved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt animal rescue groups pull the dogs, pay for vet bills and transport them to a safe and loving foster or forever home.

We screen families and animal rescue groups to help dogs that are most in need. We conduct interviews and check references to determine your eligibility for funding.  Please email us at JOHGrants@healfoundationusa.org for more information.
