Dogs You’ve Helped HEAL

Our mission is ♥HEAL🐾. Humanity. Empathy. Animal Love. Our #JoeyAndOreoHEALFund operates under our “Humanity” mission where we help address human issues underlying animal suffering and homelessness. 😥 A few days ago, Marie R. our board member and volunteer extraordinaire was approached by an acquaintance for help to get his senior dog euthanized as he could not afford it. He’d had Samantha, a large breed GS mix, since she was a puppy and it was time to let her go. 💔 We helped cover the bill to let Samantha go over the rainbow bridge. This is what her owner wrote “Thank you ever so much. I do appreciate it. This hasn't been a good year. I lost my home my wife. My marriage. My dog. Again thank you for showing me mercy. Have a good day.”😥💔 That afternoon this beautiful rainbow appeared in honor of Samantha. RIP sweet girl! You are very much missed. ❤️...

Today we had the honor to drive Simon for the first leg of his freedom journey to The Devoted Barn. Simon had been incarcerated at the Guilford, CT animal shelter for almost two years for PROTECTING his home. It was a bittersweet moment for Simon’s family, who never gave up on getting him freed. ❤️💔 Simon was THRILLED to get out of the shelter and jumped right into the car. But when he saw his family walk away he started howling. It was truly, truly heart wrenching!!! The same old story of dogs being taken away from their owners under CT’s antiquated animal control laws. #JusticeForRose #FreeKatoAndKleo and now #SaveSimon. So many others we don’t know about and cannot advocate for….WHEN WILL THIS STOP? WHEN?? 👿 SIMON IS FINALLY FREE!! We should be happy, but our tears haven’t stopped at the unfairness of it all. 😥We wish Simon the best on his journey. THANK YOU to Coco Ring, who spearheaded this effort to #SaveSimon. Ken Bernhard of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. Most of all to the loving and so very dignified Dr. Young and family, who fought so hard for Simon and today let him walk away from them to freedom. ...

WE HAVE OFFERED TO MATCH UP TO $1,500 (50%) OF THIS FUNDRAISER. Please share and donate, so Connect A Pet New England can continue their life saving work!!! We’re proud and honored to support this rescue and its awesome founder Cecelia Blake, who WALKS THE TALK and never shys away from dogs in need. 😇Cecilia stepped up to rescue two TBD dogs from the Waterbury, CT shelter, when we highlighted the abysmal conditions at the pound. SHE ALSO HELPED US REHOME #CeeCeeAndCeaser, two bonded pit bulls that we rescued from certain death when their elderly owner Andrew got dementia. 😥 Bottomline….Connect-A-Pet helps dogs that no one else does. They recently rescued 3 medical cases from NYCACC who ended up costing over $10,000 and have raised very little funds. Sadly, they will not be able to save any more dogs with medical needs till the vet bills are paid off. Please help! Thank you!!🙏❤️ #CeeCeeAtHEAL #CeasarAtHEAL #JoeysElderPaws #JEP #JoeyAndOreoHEALFund #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove #HEALNow #WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #TeachHEAL #HumaneEducationTeachHEAL #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth ...

❤️Baxter (previously Mega at  Hempstead Shelter in Long Island (TOHAS)): From an overlooked sad senior with a stuffie in his mouth to living the life with his boy! How we love such happy endings!!❤️🥰🙏 Mega was surrender to the Hempstead Animal Shelter when his owners were evicted.💔 A big, dark colored, senior pitbull, Mega WAITED for his forever family for almost a year. His adopters fell in love with Mega’s picture with the stuffie and drove over 200 miles to bring him home. However, Mega’s new life was not without its challenges….a cancer diagnosis and behavior issues.😟Baxter has been diagnosed with a mast cell tumor with a “fair to favorable” prognosis. His medical and cancer treatment is covered by our ♥Joey & Oreo HEAL Fund♥. A HUGE thank you to Baxter’s pawsome family for adopting and standing by his tribulations!!!🙏 To the wonderful volunteers at TOHAS, who go above and beyond to love and take care of the so many wonderful dogs in their care!!❤️ #BaxterHEAL #JoeysElderPaws #JEP #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove#WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #TeachHEAL #HumaneEducationTeachHEAL #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth...

No “i” in “rescue”…takes a village to "change the world for that one animal"! Peter, a tiny helpless puppy, was tossed like trash. He had an huge infected wound with hookworms on his little body. He’s been treated and is safe now and on his way to CT. His vet bill was covered by our “Joey & Oreo HEAL Fund”. Thank you to Zendog CT, the vet team at Lindale Pet Hospital in Texas, the anonymous rescuer who picked Peter from the street and took him to the vet, and all our donors and supporters. YOU MAKE IT POSSIBLE!  ...

Adorable little marshmallowy meatball Blanca (#boroughbred30687) was at risk at the Brooklyn Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) due to medical conditions i.e., orthopedic issues that require continued care. We stepped up to save Blanca, when ACC staff reached out for help for this "staff fave”, and overfull conditions at the shelter due to slow summer adoption months. We don't have much information on this sweet pup’s past except that she came in as a stray with deep, infected lacerations on her face, a wound on her leg, and injuries on her hind limbs. We’re so happy to report that Blanca now renamed Willow has healed well!! She has truly hit the jackpot with her hoomans and doggie foster bro Grey, who's thrilled (and exhausted!) to have a playmate! Despite her sad, abusive past, Willow loves to give kisses, topples over for belly rubs, and embarks on celebratory zoomies fueled by happiness. Happy life sweet girl! #WillowAtHEAL #EveryDogMattersatJoeysElderPaws #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund #WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #HEALNow #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove #TransformingAnimalandHumanLives #EmpathyConnectionBuildingUpOurYouth #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth...

Imagine being old and blind, and then abandoned on the busy streets of NYC. The cruelty of stone-hearted humans towards our four legged best friends is beyond comprehension. But sweet, wriggly 8 year old Cornelius (#boroughbred31115) did not let his circumstances dim his exuberant, loving personality. A donation from  THE JOEY & OREO HEAL FUND HELPED CORNELIUS being pulled by a NYCACC New Hope Partner, Project Precious Rescue. This cutie is recovering from CIRDC and will soon be on his way to his foster!! #EveryDogMattersatJoeysElderPaws #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund #WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #HEALNow #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove #TransformingAnimalandHumanLives #EmpathyConnectionBuildingUpOurYouth #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth...

❤Sweet senior Bam Bam (#boroughbred26686) rescued from the “at risk” list at MACC. In one home his whole life, this 9-year old was heartbroken when his owner left him at the shelter. As per his notes ? “UPON INTAKE, BAM BAM WAS WHIMPERING AND CRYING AND PACING". A shelter is no place for a dog, let alone a senior dog ? We were SO happy to DONATE to this sweet boy’s rescue by Pound Hounds ResQ. From Pound Hounds ResQ: "Thank you so much Joey's! We - Pound Hounds ResQ - received such a generous donation from your organization for Bam Bam from the NYCACC. Thank you Thank you Thank you for your generosity!" Spunky Spike (#boroughbred25267) is outta the Brooklyn ACC thanks to a grant from #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund and is safe with Connect A Pet New England. THE SWEETEST OF PUPS, HE WAS FAILED NOT ONCE BY HIS HUMANS BUT TWICE!!! He was surrendered to the shelter in April by his owner and subsequently reclaimed. A month later, he was found wandering as a stray and and brought into the Brooklyn Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). ??How so very traumatic and confusing for this adorable 3-year old, described as dog and kid friendly by his owner?!!! Shelter staff noted that SINCE SPIKE RETURNED TO THE SHELTER HE WAS EXTREMELY FEARFUL IN THE KENNEL, GROWLING AT HUMANS. OUTSIDE THE KENNEL HE REVERTED TO HIS PLAYFUL, HUMAN-SOCIAL SELF. As per ACC notes "At this time we feel that Spike is not acclimating and should no longer live in a kennel environment as it is detrimental to his well-being." We could not leave Spike to deteriorate at the shelter and reached out to our good friends at Connect A Pet New England to help Spike. They are a small but MIGHTY non-profit 501c3 located in NH, dedicated to finding the right home for the dogs under their care. THERE IS NO "I" IN RESCUE!!! We can achieve so much by working together. For us #EveryDogMatters and our goal is to help animal welfare and rescue groups where 100% OF DONATIONS GO TO ANIMALS IN NEED!! Spike is cat and dog friendly and is available for adoption at https://www.petfinder.com/…/connect-a-pet-new-england-nh156/ For other great dogs with Connect a Pet go to https://www.petfinder.com/search/dogs-for-adoption/… #EveryDogMattersatJoeysElderPaws #TheJoeyAndOreoHEALFund #WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #HEALNow #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove #TransformingAnimalandHumanLives #EmpathyConnectionBuildingUpOurYouth #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth...

Meet ❤Khushi❤ our newest HEALer and a recipient of  The Joey & Oreo HEAL Fund. She came in today to visit one of our volunteers at her office! KHUSHI, which means joy or happiness in Hindi, has had anything but a happy life. This ADORABLE SENIOR, was found ~5 years ago in a parking lot with ribs showing. ? A man, who works in maintenance at our volunteer's office, found her and took her home. We think he tried to breed her but thankfully couldn’t!!! This man then split up with the woman he was living with and she kept Khushi and pretty much neglected her. As you can see Khushi got heavy because she probably was never walked. Anyways, fast forward four years, the woman calls the maintenance guy and says she is moving and cannot take Khushi. This made us so sick ? The Maintenance man can't take her because his wife won't let him (typical!). A co-worker, who has a big heart, took in Khushi to help her find a home. She cannot keep her long term as she lives in an apartment building that does not allow dogs. Our good Samaritan loves Khushi and was in tears last week because she noticed KHUSHI HAS A HARD BUMP around one of her nipples. She is afraid it's cancer and cannot afford treatment. THIS IS WHERE WE STEPPED IN TO COVER KHUSHI'S MEDICAL TREATMENT. She had a preliminary visit to the vet and is now waiting for a surgical appointment at Tuft's. We're hoping #SweetieAtHEAL's good luck will rub off on Khushi and she will soon by HEALed!!? Please keep Khushi in your thoughts and prayers!!! We will keep you posted on her health. All medical expenses will be covered by us. If you are interested in adopting this...

The Joey & Oreo HEAL Fund has donated a large number of Seresto collars to Gordy and Friends. This AMAZING ALL-VOLUNTEER group in the Finger Lakes region epitomizes the very best of an animal welfare and advocacy group. Their goal is to bring comfort and succor to outside and chained dogs. WITH THE WEATHER WARMING UP, THERE IS HUGE NEED FOR FLEA/TICK PREVENTIVE COLLARS for these poor chained and outside dogs. From Gordy and Friends, “The fleas here last year were so bad that we had people reaching out to us all summer. We had people come up to our truck when we stopped for gas, as they couldn't afford the collars but their dogs were suffering. It's a great outreach tool to find more dogs who need help beyond the collar. We passed out as many as we had - so this will be a great help to so many dogs.” THERE IS NO “I” IN RESCUE. We can achieve so much by working together. For us #EveryDogMatters and our goal is to identify and help animal welfare and rescue groups where 100% OF PROCEEDS GO TO ANIMALS IN NEED.  If you’d like to help these outside and chained dogs, please send some donations from their Amazon wishlist at https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3MMU46DHT96M/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1...
