The Joey & Oreo Fund helped cover part of the veterinary bill for Penny’s testing for bladder cancer. Penny was adopted by her family four years ago from a New Hope rescue that pulled her from the New York ACC. Penny has been the light of her parent’s life, along with her brother Meeko, she has been a constant bundle of joy, love, and snuggles since the day that they got her. Other than a few minor issues she has been an extremely healthy puppy. But one day, her parents noticed blood in her urine. The vets feared that it was bladder cancer, but testing was expensive. We helped cover part of the veterinary tests, so that Penny’s family could make sure that if it was bladder cancer, that they would have caught it early enough to take as much action as possible to give Penny the long life she deserves....

The Joey and Oreo Fund helped with ACC survivor Gizmo’s substantial veterinary bills. He was saved from the shelter by a New Hope partner, but was sick with kennel cough, which developed into severe pneumonia and went to his heart. He was taken care of by an amazing veterinary facility and awesome foster. He is feeling 100% now at his forever home.  ...

Odyssey, an approximately one-year-old pit bull mix, was rescued from the “at risk” list at the Manhattan ACC. Odyssey was brought into the shelter when her owner was incarcerated. Poor Odyssey, who looked very well-cared for at her home, contracted a cold at the shelter and was at risk for euthanasia. Luckily, Odyssey was rescued and spent three months at a farm all thanks to a sponsorship by The Joey & Oreo HEAL Fund before going to her forever home....

Joey’s Fund helped Layla’s family with veterinary bills for her TPLO surgery to fix her torn cruciate or the alternative could have been euthanasia because she already had a bad leg. In Layla’s mom’s own words when seeking funds to help Layla “Then I picked her up from the vet and brought her home and took one look at her and burst into tears. All of the pain she is in right now and she still can't help but wag her tail and limp over to me just to lick my face like she's done for the past 6 years whenever she sees mommy cry. It occurred to me that she's not just been some dog but my friend. She's seen us at our worst and at our best and forever faithful greeting us every day we come home with unconditional love no matter what. She's our family, our friend, our furry child, our forever faithful wagging her tail to greet us with kisses when we come home. We need to do this for her. So this is us asking for help and asking for prayers so she can get the surgery and help she needs.” Layla underwent surgery and is now resting and healing at home with her family....

Joey’s Fund helped Calypso’s family with her veterinary bill. Calypso’s story really touched our heart. She was seriously injured when she was attacked by her family’s newly rescued dog. Her parents are avid animal lovers and activists. Calypso had severe injuries and needed multiple surgeries. She is home now and recovering....

Rosie was a 16 year old Rottie mix that was abandoned at the vet’s office. When she was a young dog she had a traumatic injury that left her paralyzed in her back legs, but the family did not get her a wheel cart or take her to the vet. Instead they left her to drag her back legs around. They also bred her twice after she was paralyzed so they could sell her puppies for a profit.  This poor dog was never someone's loved or cherished dog. The vet said that she did not have much time to live. Joey’s fund paid for part of her medical bills....

Joey’s fund helped fund the Bridgeport Animal Shelter’s upcoming off-leash space. Currently the Bridgeport Animal Shelter has no play area for the dogs in their care. And not much staff to walk them. Sadly, these dogs spend all their time in kennels. This is a big project and we’re happy that the pups will soon have an outdoor space to play....
