We have changed our name to H.E.A.L. (Humanity, Empathy, Animal Love) Foundation, Inc. to reflect our broader mission of saving canine lives and creating a kinder, more empathetic world via our Humanity, Empathy, Animal Love (H.E.A.L.) Programs. “EVERY DOG MATTERS” at H.E.A.L. (Humanity, Empathy, Animal Love) Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity, committed to saving lives and reducing canine homelessness through our financial assistance and grant programs for pet families in need, animal rescues and shelters. Our mission is to transform human and canine lives through our Humanity, Empathy, Animal Love (H.E.A.L.) programs: Our HUMANITY mission addresses the human issues underlying animal homelessness and suffering, and thereby decrease the number of companion animals entering the shelter system, via our pet retention program. We provide need-based financial assistance to owners of dogs requiring veterinary care, so pets and families can stay together. Our EMPATHY mission focuses on the root causes of violence and cruelty in society and build up our youth through Humane Education and participation in our TeachH.E.A.L programs. We believe Humane Education is the building block of an enlightened and ethically responsible society, where we teach students empathy, compassion and respect for people, animals, and the environment. Our ANIMAL LOVE mission is our commitment to reducing canine homelessness, animal cruelty, and shelter euthanasia rates by partnering with and⇒ providing funding and resources to 501(c)(3) animal welfare organizations. We focus on rescues that help long-stay, harder to place senior (6+ years), bonded, dark colored, and pit-bull type dogs in shelters in the NY Metropolitan area and beyond....
Today we had the honor to drive Simon for the first leg of his freedom journey to The Devoted Barn. Simon had been incarcerated at the Guilford, CT animal shelter for almost two years for PROTECTING his home. It was a bittersweet moment for Simon’s family, who never gave up on getting him freed. ❤️💔 Simon was THRILLED to get out of the shelter and jumped right into the car. But when he saw his family walk away he started howling. It was truly, truly heart wrenching!!! The same old story of dogs being taken away from their owners under CT’s antiquated animal control laws. #JusticeForRose #FreeKatoAndKleo and now #SaveSimon. So many others we don’t know about and cannot advocate for….WHEN WILL THIS STOP? WHEN?? 👿 SIMON IS FINALLY FREE!! We should be happy, but our tears haven’t stopped at the unfairness of it all. 😥We wish Simon the best on his journey. THANK YOU to Coco Ring, who spearheaded this effort to #SaveSimon. Ken Bernhard of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. Most of all to the loving and so very dignified Dr. Young and family, who fought so hard for Simon and today let him walk away from them to freedom. ...
WE HAVE OFFERED TO MATCH UP TO $1,500 (50%) OF THIS FUNDRAISER. Please share and donate, so Connect A Pet New England can continue their life saving work!!! We’re proud and honored to support this rescue and its awesome founder Cecelia Blake, who WALKS THE TALK and never shys away from dogs in need. 😇Cecilia stepped up to rescue two TBD dogs from the Waterbury, CT shelter, when we highlighted the abysmal conditions at the pound. SHE ALSO HELPED US REHOME #CeeCeeAndCeaser, two bonded pit bulls that we rescued from certain death when their elderly owner Andrew got dementia. 😥 Bottomline….Connect-A-Pet helps dogs that no one else does. They recently rescued 3 medical cases from NYCACC who ended up costing over $10,000 and have raised very little funds. Sadly, they will not be able to save any more dogs with medical needs till the vet bills are paid off. Please help! Thank you!!🙏❤️ #CeeCeeAtHEAL #CeasarAtHEAL #JoeysElderPaws #JEP #JoeyAndOreoHEALFund #HumanityEmpathyAnimalLove #HEALNow #WeRescueSeniorBondedandPitbullTypeDogs #KeepingPetsOutofShelters #TeachHEAL #HumaneEducationTeachHEAL #TeachHEALBuildingUpOurYouth ...
We want to thank all our supporters and donors, for giving a chance at life to Sweetie. There was no hope for her without you. A SENIOR DOG IN A HIGH-KILL MUNICIPAL POUND WITH A HUGE TUMOR ON HER NECK. We're so happy to report that Sweetie is recovering nicely. She finally ate a full meal today with her meds to the relief of her worried foster mom. Sweetie has a big incision and is probably in a lot of pain, but we can only imagine how relieved she must be to be rid of that 2+lb tumor hanging around her neck. We're still waiting for the biopsy report, so please continue to keep this sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers. Sweetie was rescued from the Waterbury pound on April 13 and is in a foster home. True to her name. she is the sweetest pup ever, despite the discomfort the big tumor on her neck must be causing her. She will soon feel as good as new after her surgery. Sweetie is about 5-6 years old and IS KID AND DOG FRIENDLY. She was found as a stray sitting and watching some kids play soccer in a park. SHE IS EXTREMELY WELL-BEHAVED, HOUSEBROKEN AND WALKS BEAUTIFULLY ON THE LEASH. We believe she was definitely a family dog before being abandoned....
Joey’s Elder Paws Partnership with NYCACC's Enhanced Reunification Program: Senior bonded pups Gucci (#25025) and Lewie (#25026) have come to us as part of our partnership with NYCACC's Enhanced Reunification Program. Gucci's and Lewie's owner had a family medical emergency and needed help with temporary placement as she was unable to afford boarding. Sadly she had no choice but to surrender the pups to the Brooklyn ACC. Seeing the owner's strong bond with and dedication to her pups, ACC reached out to us for temporary foster/boarding. We are so happy to be able to step up for these little boroughbreds for a couple of months, till they can be reunited their mommy. But for now the duo is confused and a bit lost. They are also a bit frail and down with a cold. But their wonderful foster is sooo amazing and taking such good care of them. Please keep these two cuties in your thoughts for a speedy recovery!!...
Nala Rescued under our Owner Surrender Prevention Partnership with the NYCACC: Last week we visited the Manhattan ACC and were once again reminded of how heartbreaking and depressing a place a shelter can be for our four legged friends. The staff at the NYCACC does its best to highlight abandoned pets to New Hope Rescue partners like us, but the sheer volume of dogs coming through the doors from the five boroughs is simply overwhelming. As part of our Owner Surrender Prevention Partnership with NYCACC and our #KeepingPetsOutofShelters initiative, we rescued 5-year old Nala (#boroughbred19357) a deferred intake at the Manhattan ACC today! Another sweet pup failed by her humans. But she is safe and will soon be home with her awesome foster parents and sister (also rescued from the NYCACC). A bit about Nala's sad history. Her family got her three weeks ago from her previous family, who had no time for her. Her current family had to rehome her as she is not a good match. So why was Nala not a good match?! Well…because Nala had growled a few times in her current home when her OWNER PUT HER FACE ON HER FACE!! REALLY…so as per her notes from the NYCACC "1/18, Nala was lying on the couch and her ADULT OWNER was lying sitting behind her. The ADULT OWNER leaned on her and put her face on her face. Nala growled. Her owner leaned back SLIGHTLY ON HER and told her that wasn't nice. Nala turned around and lunged and bit her lip. She then ran to a corner and hid. Nala's first family (WHO DIDN'T EVER HAVE TIME FOR HER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!) was very surprised to learn that she bit her current owner. They report that she hadn't bit anyone while she lived with them."...
Joey’s Elder Paws Saves Two Dogs Headed for Euthanasia at Waterbury, CT Pound: They have no names, no animal advocates, no social media posts, no emails requests for help, no pictures, no pledges, no behavior evaluations, no volunteers taking them for a walk or simply a cuddle. These dogs have zero rescue interest. THEY ARE INVISIBLE and FORGOTTEN. If they are not adopted, they are euthanized at the Waterbury, CT municipal pound. These dogs bark, whimper and cry BEGGING for someone to save them. PLEASE SHARE. We would love for these dogs to get more attention, to find forever homes or fosters. Please advocate, be the change, BE THEIR VOICE! We have been so inspired and overcome by the show of support for the pups at the Waterbury, CT pound. THANK YOU FOR BEING THEIR VOICE. It takes time to bring systemic change, but we are all starting to make a difference. There is no "i" in "rescue" and thanks to the effort of some very special people, we were able to pull Sofia and Amber. The girls are named after two princesses in a Disney show called Sofia the First!! We got both girls spayed and vaccinated. Sofia is about 6-7 years and Amber is approximately 1-3 years old and are now safe and forever loved....
Joey’s Elder Paws Rescue approved as a NYCACC New Hope Partner: Meet Griswald (#boroughbred15653) rescued 12/21 from the Manhattan ACC) our newest H.E.A.L.er and first official rescue as a newly accepted NYCACC New Hope partner. Gris, found as a stray, was At Risk at the shelter due to kennel cough. Thank you to the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) Manhattan New Hope staff for advocating and highlighting this sweet older pup to us. Gris is with a short-term foster in Westchester, NY and will be going to our H.E.A.L. (Humanity, Empathy & Animal Love) Sanctuary in upstate NY tomorrow. He has been the perfect houseguest, adoring, low key, low maintenance and housebroken. Bringing Griswald home from the shelter was an extremely emotional experience. He refused to come with us and wanted to go back into the shelter, the only safe place he knew, after having been a stray for God knows how long. He had to be lifted into the car and then when we got home he wouldn’t get off. He looked confused and scared, tail tucked between his legs. GRIS' SAD EYES AND THE SCARS ON HIS FROSTED FACE MAY SPEAK VOLUMES OF HIS HARD, ABUSIVE PAST, BUT HE IS SUCH A GENTLE, LOVING SOUL. Griswald is BEYOND ADORABLE. This bouncy boy is so very sweet, mellow, SUPER DOG and KID FRIENDLY….you can't ask for more in your new best friend! But Gris was the lucky one. We don’t know how long Griswald had been a stray, but seeing his contentment at being loved and inside a house is simply priceless. There are so many Joeys, Griswalds, and nameless others in shelters that need rescuing. Please open your hearts and homes to a homeless pup. #AdoptDontShop....
